traveling baby

Aside from all the traveling to the lolos and lolas houses, Ramil and I brought Mateo grocery shopping already. My mama was outraged upon learning that we brought Mateo along when we did our groceries last weekend, LOL. She calmed down upon learning that it was just to the nearby Tropical Hut. I didn’t bother telling her we were actually planning to go to Shopwise Antipolo. Hehe!
Last Thursday, Mateo and I fetched Ramil from work/school. Ramil left the car with us and commuted to work instead. Our dilemma was how I am going to drive and bring Mateo also. We’ve planned on buying a car seat but since most car seats we’ve looked at would only accomodate babies up to 6 months of age, we thought that buying a 3k++ item which Mateo would only be able to use occassionally is not worth it (but we would accept it as a gift, LOL). The night before had me and Ramil cooking up ways to bring Mateo along with me. We finally settled on bringing his bathtub along. I put a towel on the bottom of the tub, put 2 thick blankets over it then we put it securely in the front passenger seat. Ramil was able to wedge it between the lower part of the dashboard and the seat itself such that it wouldn’t be able to move. Some co-teachers were horrified to learn he traveled in that manner. He was even awake the whole time. I was waiting for him to fall asleep so that he would be easier to bring along but the little rascal refused to fall asleep.
So our co-teachers and students were able to see him for the first time. Our poor boy wasn’t to take a nap anymore, people were too noisy and too busy over him. It was great ’showing him off’ to people. Not showing off in a ‘hey-look-at-our-very-cute-baby’ way (though we do think he is very cute) but in a ‘hey-look-this-is-our-baby’ kind of way. We were proud of him no matter what people would think (i.e. he’s not fat enough, he’s too fat, he’s a crybaby, he’s too short, he’s too long, he has ugly this or that,…). We are his parents and we think he’s the best baby in the whole world. We are only too happy to share him.
