destination San Diego

Posted on April 24, 2007

My mama's friend will be migrating soon. It seems that a lot of people we know are leaving the Philippines, either to work or for good. The usual destinations are Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and of course, USA. My mama's friend will be bringing her whole family to USA. From what I've heard the kids are not too happy with the whole set-up. They are hesitant about starting a new life in a place where they barely know anyone. The couple are adamant though, they think that this is the best for their family right now.

If everything they need to fix are done right on schedule, they should all be in San Diego next month. The couple, having gone there several times already to visit relatives, can't seem to stop talking about the place. They have mostly nice things to say about it. In preparing for their big move, they started scouting San Diego real estate properties early last year. After several weeks, they decided to stay for a while with relatives and then look for their own place once they get everything settled already.

According to them, one thing the kids look forward to are the restaurants. The whole family loves food and eating out so it was only logical that this is one of the things they want to check out. I'm pretty sure the kids will also be able to adjust fine in due time. It's a good thing that they have a lot of friends and relatives there already. Two of their aunts are dentists while an uncle is a nurse.

Since Ramil and I have also talked of possibilities of migrating elsewhere, we are usually very curious whenever we'd learn of people who have made this choice already. Despite all the benefits migrating might bring, we both know this is not our priority right now. As long as we're getting by here in the Philippines, we don't see any urgency to go somewhere else.
