mateo is 7
Posted on August 21, 2007
Yup, our little boy turned seven months last August 15. He had his pedia visit yesterday and we're finally done with the very expensive IPD vaccine! Yay!
As of last night, he weighs 8.4 kg and 71.5 cm. I was a bit worried since he hasn't been gaining much lately. A lot of people have been commenting that he got thin. According to his pedia, his weight is still okay for his age and a decrease in weight gain is not so surprising since babies at this age are active already. I guess our little fatso is not so fat anymore
Two weeks before he turned seven, Mateo has started pulling himself up to standing position. After a month of crawling, he finally discovered that he could use anything near him (i.e. walls, pillows, mama/papa) to be able to stand up. It seems that he's getting bored with crawling and prefers to walk around with somebody holding him under the armpit. We initially didn't want to buy him a walker because we don't want him to be too independent on one. We changed our minds though after having backaches and sore knees from assisting Mateo. The mamu (my mama doesn't like to be called lola) has graciously volunteered to finance it. Yey!
Lately though, he's had episodes of stranger anxiety. He'd cry whenever an unfamiliar face would carry him. It's good that he's slowly getting over it these past few days only to proceed to a different thing - attachment to the milk provider. Ramil has been calling him mama's boy since he usually prefers me. His face would light up, he'd get all excited, and he'd stretch out his arms whenever he sees me. It's very amusing at first but considering that I almost don't get anything done, it's starting to become irritating. Hopefully, this phase will soon be over.
It's really amazing how Mateo's personality is unfolding right before our eyes. He is not just a baby anymore. The fact that he is indeed an individual member of the family gets stronger everyday. We feel it in ways he makes himself heard (oh yes…) and understood. He has developed numerous ways of communicating to us beyond the unending baby babble he'd make. He has developed different kinds of relationships with each member of our family. I can't believe having a baby gets better and better with each passing day.

Welcome back Andrea and anlaki na ni Mateo. And yes, they don’t gain that fast anymore because they are becoming more active.
Stranger anxiety is just another phase that he has to go through for now. I know how it feels like because my son is like that too. Sobrang clingy. Saka he’s breastfed kaya ganun din.
hi andrea, good to hear from you again.
as long as mateo’s deeemed healthy by his pedia, you dont really have to worry about his weight. nagiging malikot na siguro sya kaya mas nagbuburn na siya ng fats.
with the “stranger anxiety”, at least di madaling makidnap, diba.

i remember, when jenna was little, ma bribe lang ng food eh kahit kanino sasama
Wow. Patong patong kasi. I plan to get him vaccinated kahit isa lang or dalawa na additional this year (cross fingers). Pray that we can alot a budget for it and that he doesn’t get ill again. Hindi kasi mabakunahan pag kakasakit lang. Ay kakaloka! Hope you’re enjoying your new place!
hi andrea…how time flies so fast ano, 7 months na mga chikitings natin!
Happy seven months, Mateo!
Nice - You got the right word: clingy. I tell Ramil nga na dapat hindi ako lagi ang mag-alaga kay Mateo even if I just stay home most of the day. We’re exposing him to different people now para masanay.
Chi - Good to see people commenting on my post again! Hehe! I miss visiting your blog too…
Kakatawa naman si Jenna. At least hindi iyakin sya with strangers.
Like IPD, Rotarix, etc. Haha! Kuripot tayo na mommies ano? Pero since we were getting free consultations na rin naman (with Faith’s mommy) and since she recommended taking them, go na din kami. Sabi na lang ni Ramil the benefits outweigh the risks and expenses din naman. Haha!
And yeah, we’re really enjoying the place.
hi andrea! wow! in those months that I haven’t blogged, dami na nangyari. you know, I can totally relate with the stranger anxiety. When my dad passed away last Feb, grabe si Dwyn, tuwing may papasok na tao sa bahay umiiyak siya. That was the first day of the wake.
And about being irritated because the baby is clingy. Hay, naku si Dwyn hanggang ngayon sobrang clingy sa akin and there are times that I really get irritated coz I don’t get anything done at all, as in!
glad to hear everything’s fine with your family especially with mateo. halos magka-age pala sila ng pamangkin ko. Ethan just turned 7 months today. Ang mahal ng vaccines anuh pero it’s all worth it… malapit na rin kaming matapos sa mahal na IPD na yan.. konting months na lang…
grabe si mate at dustin magkatimbang… talagang overweight ang anak ko… he weighs 8.4 kgs last check up nya nung august 18. tsk…
hope your enjoying your new house… God bless you, ramil and your angel mateo!!!
Hi Ann! So glad to see you back online
Kapag breastfed nga daw mas clingy than other babies kasi they’re so used to having their mommies. Hehe! Can’t wait to read more stories from you.
@Litzie - Wow, super bigat pala ni Dustin. Hehe! Ano milk nya? Ahahaha! Kasi when he was taking in more formula nung first few months nya, super overweight din. Medyo naging mas lean sya when he started taking in more breastmilk and being more active din.
Kisses to Dustin!
