our tagaytay weekend (part I)
Posted on January 21, 2008
We had a great weekend in Tagaytay. I wanted to document the whole thing well so this will be a post of several parts. Hence, the ‘part I’ in this post’s title. My dear husband, gave a quick, concise summary of the whole thing if you’d like his version. Hehe!
We were supposed to go to my parents’ house in Novaliches last Friday night and sleep over since we planned on leaving really early on Saturday morning. Ramil and I however, didn’t want to put too much stress on our red car so we requested that they pick us up instead on Saturday. Ramil and I got up at around 4:30 am while Mateo only woke up when my parents and my sister arrived at around 5:30 am. Since all of us haven’t had breakfast yet, we decided to eat in Tagaytay en route to Canyon Woods. We had breakfast at RSM Lutong Bahay where we had crispy tawilis. Mateo had a grand time looking at Taal volcano and just about everywhere. Ramil and Mateo even rode the rocking lion and horse in RSM’s garden.
After having breakfast, we continued on our way to Canyon Woods. We almost got lost when we missed the left turn going to it. When we arrived, we checked in and we were told that the lodge we were supposed to use is not yet ready since we were early for their 3:00 pm check-in time. We decided to just pass the time in the clubhouse instead by playing billiards. When the two-bedroom house is finally ready, we dropped off our things and went back to the clubhouse to have lunch.

After lunch, we went back to the house to let Mateo have his afternoon nap while my parents went out to buy some food and drinks. When Mateo woke up at around 4:30 pm, we were all raring to go swimming in the indoor swimming pool. The weather wasn’t what we were expecting and we had to settle for indoor activities. The fog was really thick and it was difficult to drive since we could barely see several meters in front of us.

It was Mateo’s first time to swim and he really enjoyed it! He was a bit hesitant at first but once we were all in the pool already and playing with him, he started enjoying himself. I’m sure he’ll have more fun when we go to Bora this March.
Ramil, Mateo, and I stayed in the pool for about an hour only because I wasn’t feeling really well. I was feeling signs of tonsillitis and sinusitis. Also, we didn’t want to risk giving Mateo colds. Since my mom and sister still planned on swimming, the three of us went down to the fun center and we let Mateo play in their play room.
After the day’s activities, we went back to the house tired and ready to hit the bed. Mateo surely had lots of fun.
More on our second day in my next post. We took more photos which you may find in my photo blog.
