no to shades and hats

Mateo looks absolutely adorable whenever he’s wearing his pair of shades and his hat. I have a problem though, he’d often wear it for about five seconds - long enough for people around him to appreciate and say ‘wow, gwapo’ and then he’d go about removing the shades and then the hat. Does anyone have any tips on how to make a one-year-old wear at least a hat for hours?
