an insured future

Ramil and I have long been planning to get some life insurance quotes from some agents we know. Since I used to work in the insurance industry, I fully understand how important it is to have insurance. Now that we have Mateo, the need for it seems all the more glaring to us. When it was just the two of us, Ramil and I lazily put off getting ourselves insured. When we became parents however, Mateo’s future became too important to put off. Hopefully, we get to follow through with this plan of ours soon.

a dream house

Ramil and I would sometimes get jealous of other people we know who have just gotten their own house or is about to get their own. Even though we’d love to check out different real estate markets like the Wilmington real estate, we still don’t have enough savings for it. Right now, all we can do is to dream and to plan. Hopefully, we can boost our savings so we can make our dreams and plans a reality.

summer sickies

A lot of people in school are having colds, cough, or worse, the flu. The crazy weather the past few days has wreaked havoc on everyone’s health. Lately, it would be unbearably hot during the afternoons but then it would rain on late afternoons or evenings. An NC health insurance would be ideal right now. It pays to be ready for any kind of sickness. It would be so much worse if you get sick and then you don’t have money to see a doctor or to bring yourself to the hospital. Even though prevention is always better, it also pays to be ready for any eventuality.

a wedding/reunion

Ramil and I attended one of my former officemate’s wedding last April 19. Both the bride (my former officemate) and the groom are Chinese so it was a church-full and ballroom-full of Chinese or at least Chinese-speaking people. There were even parts of the wedding when we could only guess what it was being said because the host was speaking in Chinese. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful wedding and I had fun catching up with my former officemates. We has a fun conversation about our wedding gifts for the couple since one of my former officemates bought a lingerie. According to her, they’ll both enjoy it anyway. Hehe! Some of them will also be getting married in the next few months so I guess I’ll be seeing them again soon.

trickled move

My sister has been transporting her things little by little to our house in Antipolo. She’s already getting tired and wishing that there’s something like a New York Moving Company to make things easier for her. We try to help whenever we visit my mom so that she’ll have a car to help her bring her things over. At the rate she’s going and with the amount of stuff she wants to bring over, she’s not done with moving anytime soon. A few more weeks would be more like it.

one more year

My mom’s friend would finally graduate from college next year. She’s been working on her media coursework for several months now and she’s dying to finally finish it. Another batchmate of hers who will also be graduating decided to make a RE coursework, a piece of writing disclosing the problems of religion, ethics, and philosophy. It made me recall a friend taking up Spanish when we were in college. She had to make a Spanish coursework too. Making a paper can be a real challenge for some students. A service like Course-Works can be such a big help for requirements like these. They offer professional writing, editing, and proofreading service. How I wish I knew about them when I was a student too :)

dreams of a new car

Ramil and I have been so frustrated with our dreams of a new/newer car. A few months before Mateo was born, we almost bought ourselves a brand new Aveo Sedan. Our bank loan got approved without a hitch, and the car guy was almost to the point of driving the car right to the front of our house just so we could commit to buying it asap. Boy, were we soooo tempted to just take the leap and go for it. Unfortunately, my impending delivery in a few months’ time brought us back to our senses. Lately, we’ve been seeing a lot of cars for viewing in different malls and we can’t help but remember our dreams of a newer car. It doesn’t help that our red car is getting to be less road-worthy with each passing month. We’d sometimes think of selling it and commuting instead. It would have been so straightforward back during the old times when transportation comes in the form of horses and the only accessories you’ll need are saddles. We are holding on to our dreams, even though Ramil would sometimes feel hopeless whenever he thinks about how much we’re earning and how much we’re spending lately. Nevertheless, I’d often tell him that we’ll get there. It may not be now but I know we will.

my sister, our boarder

Ever since my sister started going to the same school where Ramil and I teach, she has been our boarder. Even before applying for a teaching position, it was already understood that she’ll be staying with us if ever she got accepted. Right now, she sleeps on the living room with a foldable mattress that she brought with her. We initially wanted her to sleep on the other room because there’s a bed there that she can use. She refused to sleep on it though because the mattress is hard and lumpy. We might buy a mattress topper for it so that she can use it. With her staying with us, our home life will surely be different.

mateo’s tita

Ever since my sister started staying with us last week, Mateo has been having more fun. The word ‘Tita’ is one of his most used words lately. My sister seems to be having a blast too. The two of them get along really well. The only problem is that Mateo would sometimes be too much of a handful for her. She’s even thought of Botox for migraines because her migraines has been bugging her a lot lately. She’s attributing it to the heat and Mateo. I told her no, I won’t pay for botox or anything mateo-induced. Hehe!

battle with the bulge

A friend has just recently given birth and as early as now, she’s bent on losing all the fats left from her pregnancy. She’s considering all the different ways of losing weight fast. She’s planning on going on a diet or doing some exercises. She’s also thinking of trying some weight-loss supplements like nuphedragen. I keep telling her to take it slow and to let her body recover from pregnancy and childbirth first. But she’s so eager to get back to her pre-pregnancy shape and size. I just wish her luck. As for me, almost 15 months after giving birth and I still have some extra pounds to lose.
